How Addiction Works in the Brain with Modern Assistance Programs

Jay Cary of Modern Assistance Programs will walk attendees through his dramatic presentation on substance addiction and how it can affect the brain of the user. During this training we will learn about the Limbic system, (pleasure circuit) of the brain and its role in addiction. We will discuss the development of the “disease model “and some of the key experiments early on in addiction research. We will discuss how these experiments helped to shift scientific opinion away from seeing addiction as strictly a behavioral issue and more towards being an actual disease of the brain.
